ABOUT DR. DANIEL STEIN

Dr. Daniel Stein currently serves as Assistant Professor of Instruction in Classical and Musical Theater Voice at Ohio University in Athens, OH, where he is also Coordinator of Opera Theater. Prior to his appointment at Ohio University, Stein served as an Adjunct Voice Faculty member at Wright State University (2017-2019), High Point University (2014-2015), and Winthrop University (2008-2015).

Dr. Stein has served in various capacities over the years. Aside from his teaching, he served as Assistant Director for several of the Opera Programs productions/scenes programs in the Department of Music at Winthrop University. In the Department of Theatre and Dance at Winthrop, Daniel served as Music Director for productions of Urinetown: the Musical and Into the Woods.

Also taking interest in educating future performers in the industry, Dr. Stein has worked as an educator with both Children’s Theatre of Charlotte [CTC](2012-2015) and Catco is Kids (2019). With these companies, Stein has served as both educator and Music Director. He helped develop the curriculum and taught as a music instructor for the Musical Theatre track at CTC and was music director for the OnStage educational productions of The King and I, Jr. (2013), Dear Edwina, Jr. (2014), and Into the Woods, Jr. (2015), as well as for numerous summer camps over his tenure. With Catco is Kids, he was Music Director for the company’s Saturday Morning Musical production of Annie KIDS (2019).

Dr. Stein holds a D.M.A. from The Ohio State University (2019) where he studied with Dr. Robin Rice and Dr. Scott McCoy. He received his M.M. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2005) where he studied with Dr. Robert Bracey and Mr. David Holley. His B.M. comes from Wright State University (2003) where he studied with Dr. Kimberly Warrick.
